Game server rules

0. Terms and definitions

1.1. User (also Player)

— an individual who has registered and gained access to the Service and/or a Game server by purchasing a Subscription under the current Terms of Service

1.2. Ban

— a way of restricting a user for breaking these Rules or the Agreement, by temporarily or permanently suspending their Subscription access to the Game server.

1.3. Mute

— a way of restricting a user for breaking these Rules or the Agreement, by temporarily or permanently suspending their voice and text chat on the Game server.

1.4. Griefing

— ruining other Users’ gameplay with no benefit to oneself or with deliberately negative intent. This includes any way of upsetting other players, harassment and other actions such as killing player characters, blocking access to in-game resources, trolling in the game chat and the like.

1.5. PvP (player versus player)

— an interactive conflict between Users that takes place in the game world between two or more characters controlled by human players.

1.6. Warn (warning)

— a way of warning a User about a minor and/or first violation of the Rules, which does not lead to harsher punishment if the situation is fixed.

1.6.1. If a warning requires fixing the violation, the player has 3 days to follow the Administration’s instruction.

For example: Restore the block at coordinates …

After three days the player may be banned for ignoring the warn if they haven’t followed the instruction, and the warning stays in their history. Once the instruction is done, tell the moderator or administrator who issued the warn. The warn is then removed and doesn’t count towards the violation history, unless warnings are received repeatedly.

1.6.2. If a warn doesn’t explicitly require a fix in its reason, it stays in the history for 7 days.

If a player gets 3 warns in total during that time, they are automatically banned for a day. A fourth warn means a 7-day ban.

1. General provisions

1.1. The Administration is not obliged to roll back builds, rescue players or return their items.

Exceptions are cases caused by server bugs or griefing;

1.2. The Administration may issue a punishment of a different length than stated in these rules, change the type of punishment depending on the severity of the violation, and punish for reasons not listed in the rules.

1.3. A person who hides or conceals someone else’s rule violation is considered an accomplice and receives the same punishment.

1.4. The owner of a game account is always responsible, regardless of who performed the actions on that account.

1.5. Not knowing the rules does not exempt you from responsibility.

2. Gameplay rules

2.1. Any form of griefing is prohibited

  • Partially or completely tearing down other people’s builds without the owner’s permission.
  • Stealing resources.
  • Damaging other people’s contraptions and farms.
  • Pointlessly spilling liquids.
  • Extorting resources.
  • Applies to all main survival worlds and dedicated Build servers.

Punishment

  • Ban from 1 day.

2.2. It is prohibited to alter the area of public objects and/or area claimed by a player without agreement from the object’s builders, or to hinder in any other way the construction of public objects or building on a player’s claimed area.

Applies to all survival worlds (the survival world and the farm world).

Punishment

  • Warning;
  • Removal of builds;
  • Ban from 30 minutes.

2.3. Using any mods or game bugs that give an advantage over other players or disrupt the server is prohibited.

  • The only exception for the farm world is “geese” (machines that clear terrain with TNT).
  • If you find a bug, dupe or cheater, report it to the administration immediately.
  • Details about game client mods are here.
  • X-ray means any way of detecting blocks that shouldn’t be visible, using any mod, resource pack or bug that gives such an advantage.

Punishment

  • Freecam, auto-totem, auto-elytra, etc. - from 2 weeks;

  • Cheat clients (cheat suites) - permanent;

  • First X-ray offense - 1-month ban, repeated - permanent;

    When banned for X-ray, the player’s resources in their inventory and storage are cleared.

  • Ban from 1 month;

2.4. Breaking the rules of conduct at public objects, if set by the object’s builders, is prohibited.

  • Public objects are areas of the game world meant for public use or spending time. These include the Nether hub, spawn, public farms, arenas and others.
  • Charging fees or fines for breaking an object’s rules is prohibited. Exception: paid farms, where a moderator may fine a player for using the paid farm without paying.

Punishment

  • Warning;
  • Ban from 30 minutes.

2.4.1. Obstructing the portals used to travel between game maps at spawn is prohibited.

  • Blocking them with blocks, filling them with water or lava, or breaking portal blocks in any other way.
Punishment
  • First accidental violation - warning; repeated or intentional violation - ban from 7 days.

2.5. Users may not buy or sell any in-game resources, services or territory, or accounts, for real money.

  • It is prohibited to advertise or offer to a wide audience (global/local/voice chat, mass private messages, item names in public places, etc.) the exchange of in-game services or resources for services paid with real money.

This includes exchanging in-game resources or services on the server for paid services outside the server’s gameplay.

  • Buying a pass or other products on our website for other players (as a gift) is not prohibited. Only advertising such services is prohibited.

Punishment

  • Selling for real money: permanent ban.
  • Advertising services: mute from 1 day.

2.6. Building contraptions that put excessive load on the server, including chunk loaders and suppressors, is prohibited.

  • Running more than 10 “geese” (machines that dupe TNT in a loop, counted by the TNT being duped) at the same time is prohibited;
  • Using “geese” when TPS is 15 or lower is prohibited;
  • Large numbers of contraptions that produce huge amounts of items in a short time are prohibited. For example, large moss farms.
  • This rule applies to the survival world only.

Punishment

  • Removal of the contraption and a warning;
  • Repeated violation – ban from 12 hours.

2.7. Breaking the rules for claiming territory is prohibited

Territory size

  • A single player can claim up to 500x500 blocks.
  • A team can claim up to 1500x1500 blocks.

Larger claims are possible if the scale of the project is confirmed (screenshots/description).

Structures must be claimed separately, marked with signs on all sides.

You can dig a mine under any territory.

Marking territory

  • An area larger than a 5-chunk radius must be marked with signs naming the owner across the whole area, and outlined with blocks along its edges.

Respecting other people’s territory

  • If you plan to claim territory near (within render distance of) someone else’s build that has no marked borders, you must contact the owner to find out how much territory they need, to avoid conflicts. You can find the owner by looking for signs or with the help of moderators.

Territory in the Nether

Because the Nether is smaller than the regular world, special claiming rules apply there. Claimed territory is either the area of the build itself (for example, a farm, a hyperloop, etc.) or a clearly marked area with a border.

Transferring territory

  • Finished or almost finished projects can’t be taken without the owner’s consent.

  • Empty claimed territory (with nothing built, or just a “dugout”/only chests/a crafting table, etc.) can be obtained through support if the owner hasn’t joined the server for 30 days or more, or hasn’t interacted with the territory for 90 days or more.

  • Other projects can be obtained through support only to finish building them, if the owner hasn’t joined for 90 days or more.

  • Taking territory without permission is prohibited and punished under rule 2.1.

  • When receiving territory, the new owner must keep the previous owner’s valuable resources and, with the help of moderators, return them to the previous owner’s inventory.

  • Moderators may refuse to transfer territory if one player or clan requests it often, or if the transfer isn’t justified.

3. Rules for in-game text and voice chat, as well as books, signs, maps, item names, etc.

3.1. Prohibited statements.

3.1.1. Insults are prohibited.

  • No punishments are issued for violations in private messages/clan chat. A player can block another player in private messages, and a player who behaves indecently in clan chat can be kicked from the clan. In case of mass spam in private messages, report it together with everyone affected.

  • Insults (including those covered by Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

  • Threats.

  • Provocations.

  • Sarcasm directed at other players.

  • Slander.

  • Misinformation.

Punishment
  • Mute from 30 minutes.

3.1.2. Statements prohibited on streaming platforms (Twitch, YouTube, etc.) are prohibited.

Censoring or deliberately altering prohibited words is also a violation.

Prohibited in any form (public chats, voice chat, private messages, etc.) across the whole server, except in private (player-created) voice chat groups, clan chat, party chat and private messages between friends.

Lists of statements prohibited by the platforms:

Punishment
  • Mute from 2 hours.

3.1.3 Statements and symbols that fall under Russian Criminal Code articles on justifying Nazism, extremism or terrorism are prohibited, as are other calls to activities that are illegal in the Russian Federation, the USA, Europe and other countries.

Punishment
  • Mute/Ban from 1 day.

3.2. Excessive profanity is prohibited.

Use private messages (PM). A mute is issued for messages or voice chat statements with more than 3 swear words and/or for several messages with swearing. This also applies to voice communication through the voice mod.

Punishment

  • Warning;
  • 10-minute mute – minor violation;
  • Mute from 30 minutes – moderate violation;
  • Mute from 1 hour – severe violation.

3.3. Flooding is prohibited.

  • Flooding - using the chat excessively often, repeating the same kind of information many times;

  • Multiposting - splitting one sentence into several messages (3 or more messages);

  • Organizing a flood by inciting other players;

  • Flooding with deaths, kills or rejoining the server. Organized in-game events are an exception.

  • Mass announcements (for example, a shop restock, an auction or contest ad, offering or looking for work, etc.) are allowed no more than once every 30 minutes.

    This means a player can post one mass announcement every 30 minutes. Identical announcements (fully or in meaning) may only be repeated at the same interval: for example, ads for the same event or the same shop (etc.) posted by different people must also respect the 30-minute period (whoever breaks the 30-minute period is punished).

  • Running auctions, giveaways, etc. in chat without asking people to reply in private messages counts as organizing a flood. Polls may be held no more than once every 30 minutes.

  • Flooding with symbols/emotes/emojis - using an unjustifiably large (pointless) number of emotes in one message or in several in a row.

  • “One-way” message flooding - when you talk through voice chat or private messages but repeatedly reply in the chat. In this case, use private messages or local chat (!).

This also applies when talking in voice chat.

This rule does not apply to clan chat.

Punishment

  • Warning;
  • 10-minute mute – minor violation;
  • Mute from 30 minutes – moderate violation;
  • Mute from 1 hour – severe violation;
  • Mute from 30 minutes - mass announcements more often than once every 30 minutes;
  • Ban from 1 hour - flooding with deaths/kills/rejoins after a warning, or a repeated violation.

3.4. Caps are prohibited.

Caps – typing with Caps Lock on, i.e. IN CAPITAL LETTERS;

Exception

  • Emote names, except for long messages made up mostly of them; a message with 2-3 short words in caps (for example: “HI EVERYONE”, “WELL WELL”); two or more caps messages in a row that fall under these exceptions are still a violation.

Punishment

  • Warning;
  • 10-minute mute – minor violation;
  • Mute from 30 minutes – moderate violation;
  • Mute from 1 hour – severe violation.

4. Rules of conduct

4.1. Trolling and flaming are prohibited.

  • Items with “Curse of Binding”, traps, forms of social provocation, physically following players, being on private territory without the owner’s consent, trapping a player in obsidian, etc.
  • Players may visit any territory, but any provocative behavior or deliberately ruining other players’ gameplay is punished with an immediate ban.
  • You may mark small technical rooms or storage rooms as private - other players may not enter them. The rest of the base/territory remains open to visitors.
  • Public objects created in agreement with the Administration (End+, spawns, etc.) may have areas closed to visitors.

Exceptions

  • Consent of both players; clan territory, when the “offender” is in the clan; a build server, when the “offender” has been allowed to edit the world; the offender left the territory at the first request; an anarchy event world or PvP events.

Punishment

  • Mute from 4 hours - trolling/flaming in chat;
  • Ban from 4 hours.

4.2. Killing other players is prohibited.

Killing, direct PvP, traps, deliberately flooding someone with lava or burying them in blocks. Accidentally killing another player near a PvP arena or a “target player who gave consent” is also a violation - be careful in public places.

Exception

Consent of both players, organized tournaments, an anarchy event world, PvP arenas and PvP events, or when both participants are on the same team.

Punishment

  • The attacker must return/restore all resources to the victim. For frequent or consecutive kills a ban is issued and the items are returned by moderators;
  • Ban from 4 hours.

Sharing personal pages on VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and other social networks; personal photos, videos and audio recordings; information that discredits the person.

Punishment

  • Mute from 1 day;
  • Permanent mute (very confidential information).

4.4. Disrespecting anyone or putting yourself above others is prohibited.

Using expressions that degrade human dignity and/or insultingly characterize a person is prohibited.

Punishment

  • Mute from 1 hour.

4.5. Repeated rule violations.

With each subsequent violation, the Administration may issue a longer punishment depending on the number and severity of violations, and change the type of punishment to a harsher one.

  • Many mutes/bans for the same reason in a short period;
  • Violations that prevent Users from playing normally;
  • A long violation history over the whole time playing on the server;
  • Repeatedly receiving or ignoring warnings.

Punishment

  • Ban from 1 day.

4.6. Inappropriate behavior is prohibited.

  • Inappropriate behavior — aggression, not listening, showing off, unreasoned arguments/fights/statements, etc.;
  • Publicly condemning actions of the Moderators/Administration;
  • Indecent signs/books, etc. in public places;
  • Asking to be given a warn/mute/ban for no reason;
  • Indecent builds;
  • Noise, shouting, echo, deliberately interrupting others in voice chat;
  • Changing your voice in voice chat (Voicemod, etc.) in public places;
  • Pointlessly/repeatedly playing sounds in voice chat;
  • Littering in public places, throwing items at players without their consent;
  • Playing music or performing music/songs at public objects (except in areas where it is allowed; you also may not disrupt events in those areas, including with music/sounds without the event organizer’s consent), or on private territory without the owner’s consent;
  • Since it’s impossible to moderate every language in the world, only Russian or English may be used in public chats.
  • Using indecent emotes in public places or emotes that disrupt the game (flickering, excessive scaling or stretching, etc.) through EmoteCraft, Figura and similar mods;

and the like, at the discretion of the Moderators and Administration.

Punishment

  • Mute/Ban from 2 hours.
  • Messages with advertising (or advertising links) or links not approved by the administration are prohibited in any form (text/voice chat, builds shaped as letters, books, item names, QR codes, etc.), including links to personal Discord servers, websites, etc.

    Exception: books with a link or art with a QR code pointing to a dedicated website/Discord for the server’s players (a clan or a player group) as static advertising, for example in a clan shop (without running around handing out advertising items to players).

  • Advertising third-party projects in any form is prohibited.

  • Useful links to neutral sources (for example, YouTube, CurseForge, Modrinth…) are allowed, for example if a player asked for a guide on building a farm or a link to a mod allowed on the server.

  • Sending links to your own videos without the content creator role is prohibited.

About stream links: Without the content creator role you may advertise your stream on the Lania server once every 18 hours in text chat - for example, announcing the start of the stream with a link to it. With the content creator role you may announce your Lania streams, as long as you don’t break rule 4.3.

Punishment

  • Mute from 4 hours - repeated advertising of streams on the server, advertising someone else’s stream;
  • Ban from 4 hours - advertising streams with builds/item names, etc.;
